Acupuncture Treatment

Acupuncture treatment is characterized by the use of needles, moxibustion (heat therapy), cupping, and hand tools to stimulate specific areas of the body demonstrated to induce large scale physiological changes.

Each year, millions of people worldwide use acupuncture therapy to maintain wellness and treat acute and chronic health concerns. Acupuncture is a tool that was developed within the context of classical Chinese medicine, and has been adapted globally over several thousand years.  Many cultures have contributed to the depth and richness of the acupuncture traditions used by modern practitioners.

The integration of acupuncture is quickly gaining momentum in the Western world, as research continues to confirm the safety and efficacy of this therapy. The World Health Organization recently compiled a summary of over a decade of research demonstrating the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating a wide variety of health problems.

Acupuncture may be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with herbal medicine, food therapy, qi gong (gentle movement therapy), or massage.  At Silver Wave Acupuncture, new patient appointments provide patients with the information they need to decide which types of therapy will be right for them.
